Sri Aurobindo has written a poem titled “The Fear of Death”. In this poem he describes Death as always hovering around our life and breath. And he asks why should we fear death? He says that death has a laughing face filled with the light of grace. He describes death as a lovely maiden collecting fresh flowers from a garden. He says why do we fear death even though she opens to our souls the worlds of light. Do we feel fear because death’s tender hands has taken away our glory? Or is it because our flowerless stalk droops and is no longer beautiful? Or is it because death makes us less courageous?
Finally he concludes the poem by saying that Death is only a changing of garments at the Eternal’s gate.
